Birthday celebration

Last week/weekend was a celebration week for my 26th. My sweet hubby surprised me with beautiful roses and sweet gifts last week. We went to a wonderful dinner at Brio (I signed up to be on their email list and got a free Entree for my Bday, and the nice waiter gave us a free dessert) and enjoy the evening, just the two of us.

We planned a couple weeks back to head to my hometown for the weekend so Friday after work we hit the road and headed to see my mom and dad. This past weekend at my parents was so needed! we spent time working on the farm with my dad, shopping and hanging out with my mom, and a nice dinner Saturday with my parents and grandfather. We went Sunday (my bday) to church and headed back to our house after lunch. Okay, so it wasn't a weekend for the history books, but it was such a wonderful and relaxing time. Thanks Mom, Dad and Stephen!

Summertime Blossoms

 

I love creating things with my hands. I must admit,  I like to be active and I have been crafting for years now. I like creating something, seeing it take form and working on it until completion. It is very rewarding and I have an itch for it.

 

I have done gifts for friends and family, but only randomly. Lately, I have been encouraged by several people I know to start making my items to sell.

 

I thought about it for awhile, but never did anything with it. Until now. I finally decided to pull the trigger and try it. I haven't put anything on Etsy or in shops yet, but perhaps in the future. For now, the Facebook page will do.

So what do I make you ask? All sorts of things! I love making tile coasters for starters. I saw the cutest coasters in a store, but was shocked when I turned them over to see the price! $35.00 for 4 coasters that I could do myself?!? Nope, I decided to experiment and make them myself. I am still working on perfecting them, but I love the process and how they look when completed.

Next, I thought about candles. I love them - but hate spending $25-35 on one candle. So, why not try these as well? I find tea cups from places around town and make them into a sweet, southern decoration for the home. And mason jar candles - who doesn't love those?! Once done, clean it out and make some sweet tea!

 

Fabulous! I do them in gel or soy wax. Right now, I only have vanilla scented, but I will expand that!

 

And of course, who doesn't love fun colored hair ties? I honestly hate pony tail holders because it rips out my hair or breaks it.

 

 

I do other things too - I've done paintings, wreaths, whatever. As long as I get to craft, I'm a happy girl!

Vacation Days 4 & 5 - the end of this saga

Well, after traveling to Atlanta and Chattanooga, it was a day of "rest" at home Saturday. Thankfully, we slept in until about 8:30 (WoooHoooo) and woke up to cleaning the yard, working in the house cleaning like crazy, getting Stephen's new desk delivered and office rearranged and organized, wall patched and painted and loads and loads of laundry. :)

I did end up laying outside by the pool and reading for about 40 minutes that afternoon which was glorious.

It was also both my brother's birthdays (happy Bday Nathan and Justin!!)

Sunday was Kristina's shower at my house. It was so much fun seeing a ton of Auburn girls and celebrating the upcoming marriage of sweet Kris and Ben. The house was decorated with kitchen type stuff and I was so excited to use my china and crystal for the first time. I know my grandmothers would have been proud!

Finally, the end to the vacation had come, but there was still one thing left to do! Celebrate Stephen's 28th birthday! There were several "surprises" for him last week. His parents, sisters and the kids came over for cake and ice cream :) He opened presents, the kids performed skits for us and we enjoyed an evening of hanging out. It was a great vacation!
