Wanting a cute wall art DIY?

I was in the mood to make a cute wall art decoration for my guest bathroom. 
I got on Pinterest and found just what I was looking for that required little cost and materials I already had in my house. 

Items:

1. Toilet paper rolls/paper towel rolls

2. Canvas (any size)

3. Paint (any color)

4. Hot glue gun

5. Scissors

Directions:

1. Grab your paper towel rolls and cut them 1/2 wide to make your petals. Make as many as you chose to create your design. 

2. Paint the inside and outside of each petal. I chose two of my favorite colors, brown and blue. 

3. Once dry, arrange in whatever order for your design. I arranged mine like little dancing people. (See it?)

4. Hot glue the back of each petal to the canvas.

It looks like little acrobatic people. :)

Wala! Easy 3 dimension art and it took no time at all.

Hair ties {DIY}

I am IN LOVE with Emi- Jay  hair ties but never wanted to pay $15.00 for 5 of them. Seriously people, they just go in my hair!

So, a couple months back, I decided to make my own hair ties. I have think hair and got very tired of my hair snagging on my rubber bands. These elastic hair ties don't leave creases in my hair and don't damage 

You will need:

1. Fold over elastic ( I get my two types from here and here)

2. Ruler

3. Scissors

4. Lighter (to burn the ends for clean)

Directions:

1. Measure out elastic to 9 inches. You may want to cut longer or shorter depending on your hair type. I found this length is best to fit around my wrist. Cut the elastic at a straight angle to help minimize frays. 

2. Wrap the elastic around your fingers to make a lose loop, then tighten to make a knot. Leave about 1/4" on the end. Try not to pull on the end so fraying doesn't occur. If then end is too long, you can always cut it off.

3. Take a lighter or match and quickly run it over then end to seal the lose ends in order to prevent fraying.

4. Make more!!

Lip scrub {DIY}

Although I love colder weather, I HATE it when my lips are cracking all over the place and looking like they have been drug through pavement rough. My poor lips are gross and I'm so over them.

I wanted my smooth lips back (and I am pretty sure my husband did too) and made a simple sugar lip scrub that did the trick.
 

Ingredients:

1. 1 tablespoon sugar
2. 1 tablespoon of honey
3. 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil
4. 1/2 teaspoon of Vaseline
5. A container (I put my leftovers in a plastic bag) and something to mix it

Directions:

1. In a bowl (or plate), mix the sugar and honey together.

2. Add in Vaseline.

3. Add Olive oil.

4. Add to your container.
5. Apply a dime size amount and rub in.
6. Rise with warm water and apply chap stick. Make sure to place your leftover scrub in the refrigerator to keep good for up to one week.

Bam. Good looking, kissable and healthy lips again. And yes ma'am, those are mine :)

Dryer sheets and its many uses

Did you know that dryer sheets are extremely useful? They aren't just for fluffing your clothes in the dryer anymore. Oh no, no! There are tons of alternatives for this wonderfully smelling "paper" in the home. Here are just a few ways I use them during the week. 

 - Wipe a sheet over your hair to reduce frizz

 - Attach a dyer sheet to your Swiffer mop or run along your baseboards to repel dirt

 - Place a sheet or two in your dirty laundry basket, in your husbands shoes or inside your toilet paper roll to keep the stench away

 - Rub on your clothes to get rid of static cling

 - Place a dryer sheet in your vacuum bag and as hot air moves it gives off a clean scent

 - Rub on your body when going outside to repel the bugs away

 - Soak your used paint brushes in warm water with a dryer sheet to get Latex paint off quickly

 - To get rid of gunk on your iron, turn it on low and use the dryer sheet to clean the soleplate

I love that one household item can have so many functions. Is it weird that it makes me this happy? :)


 

Infinity scarf no sew {DIY}

I  love a cute scarf...particularly an infinity scarf.  A scraft can dress up and add a pop of color to any outfit. I was wanting a new scarf but not looking to pay $25 for the one I saw in a local boutique. So, I went searching through my drawers and found this orange beauty from Stephen's work. 

 

First,  I cut off the bottom rim to get rid of the eding.

 

 

Then I cut across the shirt two inches in width. Because the t-shirt is made out a jersey knit, it wont ravel or fray. I then pulled on the strings of fabric wrap them together and tie with a piece of left over t-shirt. This action helps hide my awful cutting.

 

 I cut a total of 5 pieces to make the scarf. 

Finally, I chose another some black t-shirt fabric to tie the strings together for a cute embellishment. 

 

I'm pretty excited about the final product and ready to wear it out!

Christmas Sharpie Plate {DIY}

I have the cutest plate in my kitchen on display - but I wanted something festive for Christmastime.

Luckily, I had a white sqaure plate begging to be used. Inspired by a Pinterest project I found, I grabbed a Sharpie marker to create the fun Christmas dish.

Supplies:

Plate

Sharpie

Oven

Finer nail polish

 

 

Turn your oven to 350 degrees to start heating up. Make sure to wipe off your plate first and make sure it is good and dry before writing on it.

Draw. If you make a mistake use your nail polish to wipe off the blunders.

 

Bake your dish on 350 degree for 30 minutes. Let cool and ta da!
