First Things First #9

Happy Tuesday all! Hope everyone had a great start back to their week. I'm linking up with Halie from Penguins  Pasta & Polka Dots for this weeks First Things First! This is the 9th week I've joined in and I  have heard some great firsts and made lots of great new friends through this linkup. So enjoy and come join in!

1. First speeding ticket or traffic accident
My first speeding ticket happened freshman year of college on my way home to my parents. We had just watched the Iron Bowl (Big rivalry, Auburn vs Alabama)  on Friday and I got up super early Saturday to head home. I was tired, had started to get sick and ready to see my Mom and Dad. Sadly, I had made it about 45 minutes away from Auburn when I needed to pull over to get sick (no, I was not drunk, but running a fever and sick sick). When I was getting back on the interstate, I was trying to get up to speed with traffic and got pulled over. I know of two other close friends that day who got tickets. It was a bad day to be a driver, great day to be a cop. :(

2. First BIG accomplishment you're proud of
My first BIG accomplishment was being chosen to sing in the choir for All-State music. I was in early high school and auditioned. I was actually sick this time around too, but determined to make the choir. My Mom even ran to the store to get meds while I was waiting to audition. I walked out afterward and prayed I would get it. Then, I got the letter. I made it! I practiced my music for a couple of weeks then traveled to Birmingham (where I live with my hubs now) from my hometown to sing. It was a great 4 days of practicing with other people who loved to sing as well.

3. First thing you usually reach for in the fridge
I love milk or cheese - so I usually reach for those two items. If we are out of string cheese, I go for the milk, but reverse it if there isn't any cheese and I want milk. I can't live without dairy!!

First Things First #8

First Things First

It's Tuesday, so you know what that means....

The questions:

1. First breakfast of choice
Of choice? Hmm, anyone remember the Rice Krispy Treat cereal? My grandmother used to give me that stuff (she would buy each grandchild their favorite cereal and keep her pantry stocked with it) and I would DEVOUR it. I absolutely wouldn't share it with anyone. It was mine, hands off losers. This stuff would send my blood pressure through the roof if I ate it now. Breakfast of champions yall.

2. First dessert of choice
I like dessert a lot, so this was tough to answer but I'm going to have to go with Cadbury chocolate. The real chocolate from England, not the fake Hershey version at the grocery store or CVS. The amazing $6.00 bar from World Market because that's the only place in the States that carries it, or from a friend who mails it overseas for you from England (that's what I do).  What is better than a dessert on the go? It goes with everything and goes anywhere. Its rich, creamy and always, always appreciated on the one rough week out of the month. ;)

3. First beverage of choice
A cold glass of milk. BUT,  if you mean alcohol, I am not  really a fan but can stand to drink some cheap Riesling.

Thanks Hallie and Halie for this linkup!

First Things First # 7

First Things First

Link up time again!

1. First thing you do at the gym:
BAHAHA, gym? Are you for realz? Yea, I don't visit that place.

2. First date with your current significant other:
Well, we kind of disagree on this one actually. I claim our first real date was a lunch at Newk's. If he bought, its a date.
His claim was it was later that week when he took me to dinner at a local Cajun restaurant and to see the Social Network afterward.
Whatever it was, we seemed to work out fine in the end.

3. First email address:
I don't really remember besides it being with AOL.com. It was probably something extremely stupid though - like Iheartjustintimberlake or something. Come on, you know you loved love him too. ;)

Hope everyone has a fabulous Tuesday!

First Things First #6, Mardi Gras and the stomach bug

Hi all.

I'm so glad its Tuesday.  So.glad.

This is what the weekend was like...

Our house was vomit central. Watch out, the stomach bug is going around and it ain't pretty.

But on a happier note....

Today is Mardi Gras! Do you know what it is?
Well darlin, let me fill you in...

Mardi Gras is a huge celebration the day before Ash Wednesday. Its French for Fat Tuesday - which is basically the practice of the last night eating fatty and other crap foods before Lent.

Mardi Gras in the United States originally started in Mobile, Alabama (my hometown), NOT in New Orleans. They might be crazier, but we had it first. :)

Anyway, celebrations last a week long with parades, food (King cake, my favorite), drinking, balls, king and queen, etc. Its a ton of fun and I do miss being there for the celebration.

and......

Week 6 f this series?! Wow, this has flown by! I love these questions and its fun to remember the stages of life I don't think about much.
First Things First

The questions:

1. First Broken Heart
Ha, I don't know if I would count this as a broken heart, but I had a crush on a boy for 4 years - from middle school to early high school. We will call him A. A was handsome, popular and very sweet to me. I was a dorky glasses, braces kid who was a little overweight. He even asked me to dance once at a party and I refused because I was too shy.
2. First Thing You Do When You Wake Up In The Morning
I usually hit snooze on the alarm! I do NOT like morning time - it takes me awhile to wake up. Then I go and turn on the shower to warm up the water. That in itself is tough to do - mainly because I'm half asleep doing it.

3. First High School Dance/Prom
Prom - junior year. My date was M.D. for short. He was seriously the HOTTEST guy at school and one year younger than me. We has become friends through our show choir. Did I mention he could sing, dance and play guitar?!?!
Now, our prom wasn't super fancy with long gowns - so I wore a short black cocktail dress that I borrowed from my sister. I don't even think I hardly danced with M.D., but more with my friends and guys from my grade.

Peace out.

First Things First #5

First Things First

This weeks addition of First Things First  link up with Halie and Hallie brought back some fun memories.
The deal for this link up- there is a  different "firsts" every week.
It will be awkward, funny, weird, random and embarrassing firsts.

The Questions:

1. First trip out of the country
I went to Europe right after I graduated college with a good friend, Rebecca. We went through our university, so a bunch of recent graduates went too. We went to London, Paris and Rome. Seriously, best trip of my life (besides my honeymoon)!!
I had always wanted to go overseas and am so thankful for that opportunity. We spent two weeks traveling. It was hard to leave - I've since been back to England but really would like to go all over again. All I have to do is convince my hubs, ha!

2. First major purchase on your own
Its funny, but my bed. I had saved and saved and wanted this gorgeous bed from Kincaid. I was dating Stephen at the time and he thought I was nuts. I am so proud of that bed  and love it! I have no regretted it once.

3. First thing you learned to cook
Does boiling water count? I think Chocolate chip cookies was the first real item I did by myself - and no, they weren't the break and bake kind. :) I followed the recipe on the Toll House chocolate chips bag - and probably had some supervision when making them.

First Things First # 4

First Things First
This weeks addition of First Things First  link up with Halie and Hallie brought back some fun memories.
The deal for this link up- there is a  different "firsts" every week.
It will be awkward, funny, weird, random and embarrassing firsts.

If you missed my other three posts, you can check them out herehere and here

Ok, so this weeks questions:
First best friend:
Connor McMurphy - according to my Mom at age 3. I was in Mother's Day Out and Connor was in my class. I wish I had some pictures with me back then - blonde, tall and adorable! There is the cutest picture of Connor and me in pink ballerina leotards in class with big ole hair bows to match. We were a pair. I didn't know her when we got older, but do know she went to my rival high school and college. Oh well.
First Concert:
Oh my, anyone remember Rebecca St. James? My stars did my oldest brother have a crush on that girl! I think I was in middle school (6th grader in fact) when my brother and his friend took me and my other bro to her concert at one of the Baptist church's in Mobile. I had no clue who she was but had a blast - mainly cause I was hanging out with older people. I got a t-shirt, CD, and a hello from Ms. St. James herself. Good times, good times.

First Celebrity Crush:

For any ladies reading this post ages 22-29, I'm pretty sure we all had the same crush. I was in front of the TV every time Home Improvement came on. You know what I'm talking about - there is no reason to deny it.
The dreamy Jonathan Taylor Thomas aka JTT was my man.
I was in love with his dimples and cute high pitched voice.
What a dream boat!
How could you not love the voice of Simba? Heart melting....
I'm also pretty sure I watched Tom and Huck and even a episode or two of Smallville cause he was in it.

First Things First #3

First Things First

Hiya! My third week of First Things First and I'm still Obessed with these questions! I love hearing other people who link up with Halie and Hallie with their stories.

So here's the deal - there is a  different "firsts" every week.
It will be awkward, funny, weird, random and embarrassing firsts.

If you missed my other two posts, you can check them out here and here.

Ok, so this weeks questions:

First Thing I Do When I Get Home From Work:
Well, now that I'm unemployed and living the dream, as they say, my routine has changed drastically. I used to hang my purse up, walk into our bedroom and collapse on the bed. Anybody else do that? Anybody?  Bueller? Bueller?

First Pet:
Why did this question just make me tear up? I had two sweet dogs as my first pets - Midnight and Spooky. One was a Lab and the other a Cocker Spaniel - and Oh.MY. Word. were they the sweetest pups in all the land. The were both black as night (hence, their adorable names) and loving fellas.
I think I was four or five when my parents okayed a dog. But only one. Except, you know how it goes, with 4 kids in the family and a sweet softy for a Mom, we walked away with two. I was in the 5th grade when Midnight got hit by a car and in 8th grade when Spooky died of old age.
My parents got a Golden Retriever, Darcy,  after Midnight died so Spooky would have a friend. They were good buddies. Darcy is still alive and kickin it at my parents. We have always had great luck with amazingly sweet and gentle pups.

First Cell Phone:
Oh the good ole days with the 5 pound phone that looks like a walkie talkie. Yea, no I totally didn't have one of those suckers. How old do you think I am anyway?!
I had a basic AT&T ugly little thing when I started driving at 16. My Mom and dad got it for me to call them when I got to school and when I left.

First Things First #2

First Things First

Hello all! It's the second installment of First Things First. Last week, I joined the link up with some precious ladies - Halie at Penguins, Pasta and Polka Dots and Hallie from Oceanside and shared some of my firsts.

The deal - there will be a different "firsts" every week.
It will be awkward, funny, weird, random and embarrassing firsts.

The Questions:

First thing I wanted to be when I grew up:
A princess. Specifically, Belle from Beauty in the Beast. I think mainly because I liked her songs above any other Disney Princesses. That Cinderella chick, no thanks - I don't like mice!

First time I flew on a plane:
Sheesh, that's actually a hard one. I can't remember my first flight, but I do recall the first time I flew by myself. I was 15, and my Mom and Dad let me fly to my aunt and uncles in Florida. I was TERRIFIED but of course I couldn' tell them that - here I was thinking I was big and bad flying all by my lonesome - and thru the Atlanta airport too!

*To my future children - no - you aren't allowed to fly by yourself until your 25. Your grandpa and KK were nuts to let me do this. The answer is still no - quit asking.

First CD I owned:
Oh yeaaaaa boy! My first and BEST CD eva eva was SPACE JAM! You heard me right, I rocked out to that soundtrack. I loved me some Bugs Bunny and Michael Jordan. Be jealous.

Happy Tuesday!
